Post How many.....
Following on from a topic listed on FB by Fast Bikes magazine (which I read every month lol)

How many years have you been driving/riding (or both), and how many crashes have you had (your fault or not)?

For me I've been driving for 17, riding for 18 and have had 2 car crashes and 2 bike ones, none of which were my fault

Over 30 years, 7 bans, rolled 7 cars (6 really, I rolled one of them on two seperate occaisions  ).

Never claimed off the insurance or had a claim against me or hurt anyone which is key and not a good track history to be proud of (which I'm not).

Only put myself in hospital once - driving habits were very very 'wrong' in the early days!

There you are, fessed up to everything, all in the past now and still alive.

You (I) have to admire most youngsters today on just how much more responsible they are but then when forced into a 1.1 Nova paying ridiculous insurance I guess you have to be a bit careful . . .

That's a lot Bakersone lol. You're right though, the cost of motoring in general (not just insurance) forces younger drivers to be more careful. Also, most of us probably started in a 50quid car bought from the paper - or parents' car - so maybe didn't feel as responsible as we maybe should have

Like you say, twas all too easy to pick up a 'scrapper' out of the local papers on a Sunday morning, take it down to the local tank ranges (we had a nice bit of easy access MOD land to play on), drive it till it breaks, dump it (the army used make use of them) and then off down the pub for lunch! Those were the days . . .

My first car was £75 out of my local paper and ran like a dream for a year lol. About a week after the MOT her arse fell out driving over the hills home from a night out haha. Cue a few more "cheap" cars over the years before I got my hands on something decent that was mine. I drove my dad's car for a while after passing my test but had to be "careful" lmao

Bikes - Fell off 3 times all told, but no real damage inflicted, riding for 8 in 26 years.

Cars - 2 that I've thrown off the road, (only minor damage, but 12 years between
both incidents)
4 have hit me, (one of which was an official write-off) 1 that I wrote off and
1 consumed in fire that really was a write-off in both senses. 28 years so far.

Trucks - 3 times a car door was presented in front of me - 1 of those from a 206
did not survive and the 'lady' who'd opened it learnt a mildly painful lesson.....
5 years in total, but I still have the licence :-D

1993 Porsche 968 16V Tiptronic Coupe, (Black, been 'sold' twice now, but no-one actually pays...)
