One person I can think of straight away was davethetrike - should be some posts on here for the one he had and he's a tall chap. ;)

He's not been on here for a while though.

The wife has a mk2.5 sport.

I'm 6'1 and the only thing we have done is remove the sun to help my eye line see the top of buses.

I think earlier seats were lower too, but I'd test drive one to be sure.
The most important nut is the one behind the wheel.

Quite mental?? Too right!

Milky, i love my gti for driving but when the sun comes out i've got to get the mx5 out the garage. Its not the most manly car in the world or fastest but brilliant to drive and well balanced. Luckily i've got dartmoor a few miles away and its perfect for twisty turny roads, whipping the back end out and slightly wind up the girlfriend ;) (Think she likes it really)

Never owned a Miata, (MX5) but have driven 2, one a 1995 Eunos just cruising around, the other a 2006 UK car driven in anger on the track.

Was a little disappointed with both TBH. They are certainly a 'sweet' handling car, with a 'rifle-bolt' gearchange and have obviously been highly refined/cleverly honed by Mazda to drive in the way they do, (so that most drivers will find them delightful little things)
But the downside of being so accessable and a delicate/pretty thing does reinforce the 'hairdresser's car' or 'not a real sportscar' type vibe

Maybe because of that I personaly find them a bit dull, (driven too many 'real' Lotus Elans maybe, lol) - and the 2006 car had an electronic throttle which drove me mad with the slight delay in response that all those type seem to have - so in that regard at least the earlier car was better.

Personaly I'd prefer a good hot hatch, (FWD or no) but would'nt condem anyone for choosing a MX5 as it is also a good car - but would assume they did'nt know much about cars, only what they liked the look of.

Have you considered a Honda S2000 by any chance? :-D Now that really is more like what a serious sportscar should be.... :-"
2009 Proton Persona 16V IAFM saloon Automatic Ecologic, (Mica Black - my does-everything chief wheels)
2017 Citroen C3 1.2 PureTech 82 'Feel' hatch, (Ruby Red/Black roof - Wife's new offbeat 12V trolley)
1993 Porsche 968 16V Tiptronic Coupe, (Black, been 'sold' twice now, but no-one actually pays...)

I've driven loads of MX5, probably in the 100s - I contract to the biggest new and used supplier of parts in Europe...

I have difficultly fitting in a Mk2 (Mk2.5)... But Mk1 is ok (I'm 6.2) you need to put the seat forward a bit and then lean it back....

Mk1 is best, import is best, 1.6 is more fun (lighter and revver), careful with early ones (they suffer from something call the "short nose crank problem - basically another engine to fix), look for smoke on cold start, mods are common, not always expensive.... Make sure it really has got an LSD and watch for rust in the rear sills / wheel arches, if it's rusty find another one and be careful how much you pay - it's top money season for 5s....

Great fun, but not a quick as a coupe.......

Driving position on S2000 is pants, and I personally hate having to really rev it to get any performance and it'll be costly and a real pain when it goes wrong....

Get an insurance quote for an Import and a UK car and see what they come out at....

Lots of cars that should have LSDs have them taken out and sold then replaced with open diffs.... (UK 1.8is had LSDs as standard)

You should be able to get a good MX5 for about £1200... with LSD.....
