Post Your Favourite PC game and why
Just finished doing a mini-extended marathon gaming session spread over a week, and now its finished and getting bored again i thought i'll post here and see what everyone plays and loves?

For me its hands down by a mile... Mass Effect Trilogy.

why? ever since the first one, which was just incredible. the series has just continued to get better and better, and not just visually.
i think the more common reasons people would state is the rich background and scale, being an open-world/galaxy.
and of course the interactiveness of the game-play in that your actions and even conversations effect the out-come of not only events in the game but across all the games.
For me though, its simple. i love the choices, the gameplay (lol even the magic do everything via spacebar) the setting and the characters. but above all this its for me quite clearly the `musical score`... its just incredible how much music really effects the game.
and im not talking pounding bass music, which mass effect has but only in the nightclubs... but the emotional effect it has on you while playing. in the last one, mass effect 3 this is really telling, forming a connection with you and the events on screen. this combined with the amazing storyline really made it for the trilogy.

This is my favourite audio track from all the games, it also doubles as a trailer as its a video;
Mass Effect 3; Track; Leaving Earth. Artist; Clint Mansell

and lastly a brief note on the voice actors, EA and Bioware really went all on the voice acting with some major actors that i bet alot of people didn't twig.

Mass Effect 1; Cast list

Mass Effect 2; Cast list

Mass Effect 3; Cast list

And to those that have not played it, get out and try it. its not a game that can be done in a few hours. across the board there's 75 hours of play
When it all goes t!t's up...........Get Matt and Ant to UPGRADE !!!

Why use 4.5l of oil when 9l will do ??

Ooh toughy , I don't tend to have a lot of games - the ones I have are oldies but goodies lol

Not sure I have an overall favourite but they include -

Alien versus predator
Unreal
Tomb raider series
Toca 2
Need for speed
Bio hazzard series

Maybe , just maybe avp is my best - you can really get immersed in the game and can be very atmospheric. Its 3 games in one as you can switch between a marine , alien or predator. :-D

i love all the AVP games;
AVP
AVP2
AVP 2010

the 2010 is my favourite of the series, not just because its visually amazing but the multiplayer side of it fainlly works.

not strictly an AVP game. but the new Aliens; Colonial marines is due for release within afew months... that'll be amazing. (but won't knock mass effect off the top of my list.)

build one you lazy sod, doesn't need to be mega-highspec to run new games.

my current system is well old now, but more than man enough to run any game now at good spec, and plays mass effect at max detail.

my system at present;
Amd Phenom 2... 3.2ghz quadcore
8gb 1066 ram
ga-890fxa-ud5 gigabyte motherboard
1100w power supply (modular)
ATi HD5670 256mb (just downgraded from a HD6870 2gb card)
asus xonar dg soundcard
cooler amd liquid cooling kit
hardrives combined 4.8 TB
x2 montiors 22" and 17" (17" no longer used as the 5670 has only one display port)
all wrapped in a cheap case with half its fans now broken :P

wasn't cheap at the time but now its all old its pretty cheap and will run anything now or coming out at medium detail minimum, but more likely mid-to-high detail.

im actually due a rebuild, which is why i have sold off afew of the parts, mainly the 6870 and water-coolings next to go.

Glad I've got a favourite that's cool. :). Will have to look for a newer game :D I liked the fact that you can play the game with the supplied music disc or run your own. Playing it without music does make it creepy lol , all you can hear is the pulsing of the thermal detector. :D

Some good games in there.

Avp and avp 2 I have very fond memories of but the new one sucks in comparison.

Theres too many games to list. Im a massive halo fan and the game that has most hours in it (and didnt help my school life at all) was halo 2.

Any elder scrolls game but morrowind is my fav.

I love any form of competetive gaming so the obligatory counterstrike is in there with cs:go being a vast improvement (hope theres no cs elitists on here)

But my game of the moment is dota 2...loving this game right now. Makes a nice change to the frag fest that halo and cod have become.

I have a bunch of dota 2 keys if any pc gamers want one and feel like playing a game of skill and teamwork. CoD players tend not to like it.
